Position Summary:

In your role as a Sourcing Engineer, you will be reviewing and analyzing the manufacturability and costs associated with customer projects. In this role, you will also be using your Injection Mold background and knowledge to advise sales and customers on design for manufacturability, total cost of ownership and best cost options across Fathom’s entire network. By developing highly competitive proposals and quotations that meet customer requirements, you will be assisting in bringing products to market faster in a wide range of industries. The Sourcing Engineer acts as a technical interface between our customers and manufacturing network.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides technical engineering expertise and leadership to sales and customers
  • Analyze models, drawings, and other data to determine scope of work and requirements
  • Collaborate with Fathom’s manufacturing network to determine best cost and provide quick turn quotations to our customers
  • Provide DFM feedback such as recommended design modifications to improve manufacturability, reduce costs or improve ease of assembly
  • Negotiate supply agreements and contracts
  • Assist in Supplier Corrective action activities

Required Skills: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Detail oriented with strong project management skills
  • Experience in managing international manufacturing
  • Self-starter, manages time efficiently
  • 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training
  • Understanding of GD&T and conventional tolerancing
  • Knowledge of manufacturability, and limitations of common metals and plastics
  • Injection Mold experience a must with exposure to other manufacturing processes (CNC, Urethane Casting, etc)
  • Familiar with ISO, AS, NIST & ITAR compliance requirements
  • Basic knowledge of international trade compliance and incoterms
