Scope of job:  Supplier Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in the manufacturing, logistics and supply chain management.  This position will Supports Purchasing in the selection, certification, and management of Suppliers.  Responsible for reporting on supplier performance including weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting of supplier on-time performance, Quality (ppm) and more. The SQE will support Quality Engineering with follow-up to Nonconformance’s and work with supplier on corrective actions. The SQE will perform Supplier Audits to ensure compliance to IATF 16949, VDA 6.3 and ISO 14001. Provide additional support for daily/weekly/monthly Purchasing tasks.
 
Travel Requirement: will need to travel to suppliers for urgent line down situations and audits, sometimes on short notice. 
 
Range: Serve as a liaison between employer and supplier. Evaluate and analyze potential suppliers, prepare monthly supply cost reports. Rely on supply chain management and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal decisions are made.
 
Reports to: General Manager, Quality Assurance
 
Education: Bachelor’s in business or engineering, or equivalent experience for Internal candidate.

Essential:
Certification as a Lead Auditor through accredited organization (AIAG)
Buying practices and regulations
Familiar with supply chain management regarding IATF 16949, VDA 6.3 and ISO 14001
Environmental and safety processes--basic background.
Manufacturing materials, processes, and equipment.
Excellent communication and liaison skills.
Excellent statistical analysis and Quality Assurance skills.
Knowledge of IMDS, Reach, Conflict Minerals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Purchasing:
  • Responsible for all supplier NCM’s
  • Perform audits of the entire supply base yearly (where not already IATF certified).
  • Follow up on those suppliers where their audits find a weakness.
  • Follow up on continuous improvement plans with current suppliers where identified.
  • Investigate potential suppliers and perform initial audits when identified.
  • Supplier Monitoring – Make sure that all AJR suppliers that fail to maintain an 80 or more Quarterly Score are notified of this via a Supplier Non-Conformance.  Follow up on deficiencies.
  • When needed, go to, and monitor a poorly performing supplier. 
  • Identify supplier weaknesses and monitor improvements.
  • Support Production with monitoring suppliers based on IATF standard 8.4.2.4
    • At a minimum, the following supplier performance indicators SHALL be monitored:
    • Delivered product conformity to requirements.
    • Customer disruptions at the receiving plant, including yard holds and stop ships.
    • Delivery schedule performance
    • Number of occurrences of Premium Freight
  • Maintain up to date documentation from current suppliers and ensure new supplier process is followed per IATF standards.
  • Maintain master vendor list with updates.
Systems Knowledge
  • IQS  - working knowledge required for data retrieval
  • Plex as the main plant operating, costing and inventory management system - Mastery required
  • Microsoft Suite (outlook, excel, word)- Mastery required.
  • Customer Specific portals.
